They increased the 128GB iPhone 16 Pro to 1TB!
A crazy YouTuber upgraded the 128GB iPhone 16 Pro to 1TB. So, is it possible to do this? Here is the detailed video...
We are used to crazy projects in the technology world, but this time a YouTuber attracted attention by pushing the limits of the iPhone 16 Pro model. YouTuber KingSener increased the storage capacity of his newly purchased 128GB iPhone 16 Pro to a full 1TB. However, the method he used to do this is so complicated and risky that we do not recommend trying it at home.
A YouTuber upgraded the storage space of the iPhone 16 Pro from 128GB to 1TB
The work began by removing the two screws at the bottom of the iPhone. Then, the back cover was softened with anhydrous alcohol to dissolve the adhesive inside. Once the cover was opened, the real challenge began: The YouTuber had to unscrew countless cables and parts to reach the motherboard inside the phone. The pieces were removed one by one, eventually reaching the main storage unit, the NAND chip. However, replacing the chip is not an easy task. KingSener used a CNC mill to pulverize the existing 128GB NAND chip. Then, it soldered the new 1TB NAND chip into place. Once all these processes were completed, all the pieces were reassembled and the iPhone 16 Pro was back in working order with 1TB storage capacity.
To test whether the upgrade was successful, a read-write test was performed with AnTuTu. The results showed that the crazy experiment really worked. The data transfer speed of the iPhone with 128GB storage was 51,398, while the speed of the version with the 1TB chip was 81,701.
Of course, Apple does not recommend that you do such an upgrade yourself. KingSener may have made the process cheaper than $500, but such projects require serious technical knowledge and tools. If you are not a master of soldering and do not have the courage to interfere with the internal parts of the phone, it is best to leave this experiment to the experts.
Do you think it makes sense to push the limits of devices by making such radical upgrades?
