BYD and Huawei join forces for the car!
BYD and Huawei collaborate on autonomous driving. Off-road-specific software to be developed for BYD’s luxury SUV brand.
BYD announced that it has partnered with Huawei to develop autonomous driving technology for its luxury off-road vehicle brand Fang Cheng Bao. The two companies will jointly research and develop intelligent driving solutions for off-road use cases.
The advanced system offers features such as map-free navigation, collision avoidance, and all-scenario parking. The system aims to pioneer autonomous driving functionality in off-road environments and overcome obstacles.
In addition to autonomous driving, the luxury SUV will also be equipped with Huawei’s HiCar vehicle platform. This will allow users to pair their smartphones with the infotainment system and access smart mobility services.
The partnership is Huawei’s first foray into developing autonomous driving solutions for off-road vehicles. Through their collaboration, BYD and Huawei also aim to develop the world’s first dedicated off-road intelligent driving system.
The technology will eventually expand beyond the Bao 8 to other Fang Cheng Bao models. While BYD is expanding its sub-brand, Huawei continues to grow its automotive solutions business. The collaboration also demonstrates both companies’ ambitions in the areas of electrification and autonomous driving technology.
